Protest releasing violent sex offender in community – Santa Cruz Sentinel | #childpredator | #kidsaftey | #childsaftey

The judge who believes a viable option for placement of a serial “sexually violent predator” is an RV located in a “rotating designated parking site” must be out of her mind. A judge is required to put public safety above the needs of a released felon regardless of how she wants to look politically. This bad idea is unbelievable and our entire community should protest Michael Cheek being released into our community in this loosely supervised fashion. There have already been sex offenders living in RVs in our city with limited supervision and predictable results. We are tired of these social experiments at the cost of our community’s safety. Join me at Cheek’s Superior Court hearing on Aug. 8 to protest.

— Steve Marcusa, Santa Cruz

The Sentinel welcomes your letters to the editor. Letters should be short, no more than 175 words. We do not accept anonymous letters. Letter-writers should include their full name as well as a street address and telephone number. We don’t publish those details in the newspaper, but need the information for verification purposes. Occasionally, we reject letters simply because we’ve had so many on the same subject. Submit your letters online at www.santacruzsentinel.com/submit-letters.
