Queen Creek fire to hold September child car seat safety event | #childsafety | #kids | #chldern | #parents | #schoolsafey

The Queen Creek Fire & Medical Department will be holding a child car seat safety event in September.

The event will take place on Friday, Sept. 8 at Fire Station No. 2, 24787, S. Sossaman Road, according to a posting on QCFMD’s Facebook page.

The event is just for Queen Creek residents, and they must pre-register to secure an appointment, the town’s website stated. Those without an appointment will not be seen.

Technicians from QCFMD, the Queen Creek Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety will provide instruction on how to make sure child seats are installed correctly, the Facebook posting stated. Among the things visitors will learn will be:

  • Keeping the car seat rear facing until the child reaches the maximum weight or height for the seat.
  • Keeping children in a forward-facing seat until they reach the maximum weight or height for the seat in that mode.
  • Using a tethering strap for forward-facing seats to limit the forward travel of the car seat in the event of a crash.
  • Using a five-point test to indicate when a child is ready to only use a vehicle’s seat belt.

To pre-register, visit QueenCreekAZ.gov/ChildSeatSafety,
