KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority confirmed it was hit by a ransomware attack on Tuesday morning.

KCATA stated that officials contacted authorities, including the FBI. A release stated that the KCATA believes all sensitive data is secure because appropriate storage measures are in place.

All bus service has continued to operate as normal.

“The primary customer impact is that regional RIDE KC call centers cannot receive calls, nor can any KCATA landline,” a release stated. “Freedom and Freedom-on-Demand Paratransit customers have been provided an alternate phone number for scheduling trips.”
