Ransomware Portal | #hacking | #cybersecurity | #infosec | #comptia | #pentest | #ransomware

Ransomware is a colossal, collective challenge which can pose a key threat to almost every industry and government in the form of potentially significant disruptions to business operations and essential services, which can impact our daily lives. For example, in August 2023, the ransomware attack on a major medical provider’s computer systems in the United States of America led to the closure of emergency rooms and the diversion of ambulances in multiple states.

In Singapore, ransomware incidents reported to the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) remained high at 132 cases in 2022. Organisations most affected comprised Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the manufacturing and retail sectors. These figures, however, are not likely to represent the full extent of the ransomware threat as not every victim will report an attack.

To provide support recovery for ransomware victims, the Singapore Police Force, in collaboration with the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, has developed and maintains a one-stop portal for organisations to access key ransomware-related resources on global trends and emerging variants, decryption tools and incident response checklists. The website publishes alerts and advisories on preventive measures organisations can take to avoid falling victim to ransomware. The portal also advises victims on reporting a ransomware attack.
