CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A registered Chattanooga sex offender was arrested for solicitation of a 12-year-old girl at a restaurant on Gunbarrel Road.
The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) arrested 63-year-old Charles Clayton Cabrera on Monday at around 9:30 p.m.
Police say they responded to a call regarding forcible fondling and found a girl distressed from the incident.
The police report says Cabrera entered the Mission BBQ on Gunbarrel Road around 8:30 p.m., wearing a shirt with a teddy bear on it. He proceeded to ask for a free meal, but was denied.
Afterwards, he put his hand on a 12-year-old girl’s back and guided her to the door, according to the CPD. Witnesses told police he instructed the girl to come to his room at the Intown Suites on Gunbarrel, and gave her the room number.
Cabrera then kissed the victim on the forehead before leaving the restaurant, according to the affidavit.
The man was waiting on the girl, but found police showed up instead.
After meeting with witnesses and the victim, the report says officers found Cabrera in that room of the Intown Suites and arrested him at 9:30 p.m.
Authorities charged him with assault, solicitation of a minor and violation of sex offender registry.
The report says they booked him on a $10,000 bond.
