LIVERMORE — A registered sex offender discovered on the campus of Granada High School was arrested. George M. Tomlin, a 39-year-old Livermore resident, remains in custody in lieu of $215,000 bond. Tomlin is scheduled to appear for a plea hearing on February 13.

A trespasser was reported January 11 at lunchtime near the school football field. A school police officer investigated, but the man ran away from the campus. Livermore PD officers responded to the school and found him near a creek behind the school.

A records check revealed that Tomlin is a registered sex offender prohibited from entering school grounds. Officers detained Tomlin and found in his possession drugs and drug paraphernalia.

In a prepared statement the Livermore Police Department said. “A preliminary investigation suggests Tomlin committed a lewd act on school grounds. He is suspected of inappropriately exposing himself to a female student on campus. (But) police do not believe he had any physical contact with students.”

Tomlin was placed under arrest at 1:02 p.m. and transported to Alameda County Santa Rita Jail. He was subsequently charged with committing a lewd act, and entry on school property by a registered sex offender. No charges were filed regarding drugs.

The incident at the school remains under investigation. Anyone with information can contact the Livermore Police Department, 925-371-4790.

Tomlin has prior convictions for contacting a minor with intention to commit a sex crime and child molestation in 2021. He was convicted of sexual penetration with a foreign object in 2004.
