BURLINGTON, N.C. (WGHP) — A registered sex offender was arrested this week and faces numerous charges, including taking indecent liberties with children, according to a Burlington Police Department news release.

The BPD arrested Joshua Calvin Tapp, a 34-year-old registered sex offender from Roxboro, on multiple charges.

On May 8, detectives in the Special Victims Unit got a report from a concerned Burlington parent who believed their child had interactions with an older adult.

Detectives investigated the report and found that Tapp used a social media account to communicate and meet with multiple children.

On Wednesday, Tapp was taken into custody and charged with:

  • four counts of indecent liberties with children
  • two counts of solicitation of a child by computer
  • one count of statutory sex offense with a child under 15
  • one count of crime against nature

Tapp was taken to the Alamance County Detention Center and received no bond.

Investigators believe additional victims and charges may be forthcoming.

Anyone who suspects they may be a victim should contact the Special Victims Unit at (336) 229-3500.
