BOONVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

A registered sex offender in Boonville was charged on Friday in Cooper County with several child sex crimes.

Terry Bulen, 57, was charged with first-degree child molestation, incest and two counts of first-degree aggravated sodomy. Bulen was not on the Cooper County Jail’s online roster on Tuesday night. However, records on Casenet state a warrant was served on Tuesday. His bond is set for $250,000. An initial court appearance was set for Tuesday.

According to court documents, a 10-year-old child told their parents on Sept. 28 that they were sexually assaulted by Bulen. A forensic interview was conducted at Rainbow House and the victim was “visibly scared and crying, according to the probable cause statement. The child eventually detailed assaults that allegedly occurred between 2022-23, according to court documents.

The child allegedly said during the interview, “I thought this would never happen to me,” according to the statement.

In another case filed in April, Bulen was charged with three counts of failure to register as a sex offender. A hearing is set for those charges at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at the Cooper County Courthouse. A motion to revoke his bond was filed on Tuesday.

Bulen pleaded guilty on Dec. 9, 2003, to sexual abuse. Data from the Missouri State Highway Patrol Sex Offender Registry indicates his victim at the time was an 11-year-old girl. He was ordered to serve his seven-year sentence in the Missouri Department of Corrections after violating his probation in 2006, according to Casenet.
