A 36-year-old Las Cruces man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly exposed and touched himself in front of children.

Las Cruces police arrested Matthew Lopez, a registered sex offender in New Mexico, for exposing and touching himself in front of a 5-year-old, 11-year-old and a 14-year-old in three separate incidents.

Police received multiple calls from parents where they described a shirtless man, with a large tattoo on his back and wearing pink shorts exposing himself to children.

Police first heard of an incident on 139 South Main Street and then received more calls from parents at Pioneer Park at 500 West Las Cruces Avenue.

According to police documents, there were over 30 children and parents at the park.

Parents followed the suspect and were able to point out to police where he was.

Officers found Lopez naked and hiding in the yard of a home at 339 South Alameda.

Lopez was charged with three counts of aggravated indecent exposure and failure to register as a sex offender, as he did not inform authorities of the recent change in his living arrangements.
