Registered sex offenders charged after child pornography found at home | #childpredator | #kidsaftey | #childsaftey

DVDs, laptop computers, cellphones and other electronic devices were seized Thursday when two Fayetteville men were arrested on child pornography charges, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Both men are registered sex offenders, according to a news release.

Investigators with the Sex Offender Registration Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant about 6:30 a.m. Thursday at a home at 5852 Aftonshire Drive, according to the release.

The officers were following leads provided to CrimeStoppers about child pornography, the release said.

Detectives seized 36 DVDs, laptops, hard drives, cellphones, and electronic storage devices from the residence. The DVDs contained images of child pornography, the release said.

Michael “Mike” James Adams, 68, and Thomas Wayne Smith, 51, both of the Aftonshire Drive address, were arrested.

Adams was charged with 37 counts of third-degree exploitation of a minor. He was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center on a $355,000 secured bond.

Smith was charged with 36 counts of third-degree exploitation of a minor. He was held on a $351,500 secured bond.

Both Adams and Smith were scheduled for a first appearance in court Friday afternoon, the release said.
