Reports of ‘cellphone hacking’ bids confirm BJP is scared of INDIA alliance: Stalin | Chennai News | #hacking | #cybersecurity | #infosec | #comptia | #pentest | #hacker

CHENNAI: Reports about “state-sponsored cellphone hacking” attempts have only confirmed that the BJP is scared of the INDIA alliance, Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin said on Wednesday.

Speaking at a private function in Chennai, Stalin said Union IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw’s statement that a probe would be conducted into the hacking alert issued by Apple to its customers, which included some of the top opposition leaders across the country, was a “mockery.”

The Centre’s announcement for a probe made after “accomplishing what they did” was an indication of the hardship people were enduring in the country, the chief minister said.

The hacking charges had resulted in a situation where there were doubts raised if democracy could be protected and if people’s rule would continue, he said.

Stalin said the BJP had for a long time intimidating and muzzling opposition voices. In its attempt to stifle political opponents, the saffron party had also been unleashing the ED and the income tax department in the past. “Now they have resorted to hacking of mobile phones. The cellphone company has itself come out with a statement warning its users about the hacking attempt,” Stalin said.

The company’s alert has come as a word of caution to opposition leaders.

Stalin said these developments demonstrated that the fear over the INDIA front had gripped the BJP. The BJP never expected the INDIA front to take shape and emerge stronger day by day, he said.

Since the INDIA front was reaching out to people, exposing the atrocities perpetrated by the Centre, the BJP was scared. Furthermore, opinion polls from the five states that are headed for assembly elections indicated that the BJP was set to suffer a drubbing. “Hence they are scared and resort to such tactics,” Stalin said.

But the country was in dire need of liberty from the clutches of the BJP, he said, calling upon the cadres of DMK and its alliance partners to work hard for the success in all the 40 Lok Sabha segments in TN and Puducherry.
