Republic Title’s Scott Rooker on Property ‘Seller’ Scams and AI » Dallas Innovates | #DatingScams | #LoveScams | #RomanceScans

Scott Rooker
SVP, Branch Manager, and Legal Counsel
Republic Title of Texas
.…on property “seller” scams and AI and “things the industry is really going to have to think about,” via Candy’s Dirt.

Scott Rooker

Rooker’s firm has seen so many fraudulent property sale attempts lately—via Docusign and text messages from “fake sellers”—that it has created a fact sheet to warn clients, Rooker told April Towery of Candy’s Dirt.

“Somebody’s holding title to a piece of dirt here in Texas and they live in Florida or California or Oklahoma,” Rooker explained to Candy’s Dirt as an example. “So it’s just an investment deal.”

Fake sellers then list the site for sale while using a different mailing address, Rooker said.

The use of artificial intelligence has only made the trend worse. Learn more about scams to watch out for by reading the Candy’s Dirt article here.
