IT Research Security Analyst

Description

 As IT Research Security Analyst, you will work directly with the Research Information Assurance Officer to support the IT research needs for Classified and Unclassified efforts. You will act  as an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for research projects for defense related IS and review all Export Control Technology Control Plans. You will develop, document, implement and monitor the information security plans and awareness material for classified and unclassified efforts. Also, you will provide assurance of security controls for IS related to regulations (e.g. FERPA, HIPAA, PCI, GLBA, FISMA) pertaining to non-defense research projects and University administrative areas, perform review of Export Control Technology Control Plans, and  support the primary Information System Security Officer (ISSO) in assurance of security for information systems for defense related research projects. You will work closely with information technology staff and faculty.

Qualifications

 Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Two years of professional experience in information security, auditing, or information risk assessment performance and review as it relates to compliance standards.
  • In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience.
  • Experience working with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences at various levels within the organization.
  • Analysis, decision making, problem  solving and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) or Export Control requirements, and security compliance frameworks such as NIST.
  • A broad understanding of technology.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • US citizenship is required in order to be compliant with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual DOD 5220.22-M.

Preferred:

  • Degree in a relevant field, including Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Computer/Information Technology, or Information Security.
  • Experience developing, documenting, implementing, and monitoring information security plans or technology control plans.
  • Experience developing and presenting security awareness activities.
  • Certification in or progress toward at least one designation in information security, risk, compliance or related discipline (e.g., CRISC, CISA, CISM, CISSP, CIPP/IT, GIAC).
