Robbery: Robbery bid: Elderly couple hacked to death in Tamil Nadu’s Erode | #hacking | #cybersecurity | #infosec | #comptia | #pentest | #hacker

ERODE: An octogenarian couple were found murdered with hack injuries at their house near Chennimalai here on Saturday morning. Police suspect they were killed during a robbery bid.
The Chennimalai police identified the deceased as K Muthusamy, 85, of Kariyangkattu Thottam and his wife Samiyathal, 80. They are survived by three daughters, who are married and settled in different parts of the district.
A police officer said the couple were staying alone. According to him, the murder came to light around 9am when their grandson Ajith, 23, came to visit them. “He found them dead amid a pool of blood.”
When alerted, a team of the Chennimalai police arrived and sent the bodies to Perumdurai government hospital for postmortem and conducted an inquiry.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that unidentified robber(s) entered the house by opening the main door lock with an iron rod, said district superintendent of police G Jawahar. He said gold ornaments weighing 10 sovereigns were taken away from the body of Samiyathal. “It’s a murder for gain. The robber(s) had also broken open the almirahs and stolen valuables. The value of stolen items is yet to be ascertained.”
Another police officer said the couple’s pet dog had died under suspicious circumstances a week ago. “We suspect that the robber(s) might have attempted to enter the house earlier and gave up the bid because of the dog’s presence. The chances of the robber(s) poisoning the dog to death are high to commit the robbery.”
The Chennimalai police have registered a case and further inquiry is on.
