There are concerns over data obtained by Russian cyber hackers from law firm HWL Ebsworth this week after more than 2.5 million documents were downloaded across multiple overseas jurisdictions.
The data breach is one of the largest in Australia’s history and has seen key Defence and Foreign Affairs material compromised including files related to top-secret missile testing sites and sensitive information on Australia’s engagement in the Indo-Pacific region.
Crisis talks are underway in Canberra as the government seeks to mitigate further risks.
