Salem Man Charged With Enticing A Child Using Obscene Materials | #predators | #childpredators | #kids | #childsafety | #kids | #chldern | #parents | #schoolsafey

SALEM, MA — A Salem man was charged on Thursday with attempting to entice a child for sex using obscene materials after a police online sting and investigation.

Salem police said one of their detectives trained in identifying online predators posed as a minor and conducted the investigation that led to the arrest of Sean Bixby, 28, of Shillaber Street.

Police said Bixby was charged with enticing a child under 16 years old and disseminating obscene material to a minor.

“The Salem Police Department is committed to ensuring the safety of those in our community, especially children,” Salem police said in a statement Friday afternoon. “The Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is tasked with in-depth investigations and is committed to the successful prosecution of individuals who use technology, and exploit vulnerabilities, to victimize members of our community.”

Salem police urged that residents who know of anyone being victimized — regardless of age — contact them for help at 978-744-1212 or 911 in an emergency.
