BELLINGHAM, Wash. Scammers are posing as health department employees conducting COVID-19 contact investigations.
The Whatcom County Health Department says they have heard rumors that people have received calls from these scammers.
They say if you are a close contact of a confirmed COVID-19 case, health department employees will confirm some identifying information about you, such as your name, address, and date of birth.
They will not ask for financial information, money or your social security number.
The health department also warns of scammers posing as contact tracers in emails and texts and they urge you not to click on any suspicious links.
