#schoolsafety | Bicycle Safety Week In Livingston Includes ‘Bike To School Day’ | #parenting | #parenting | #kids

LIVINGSTON, NJ — The wheels continue to turn in Livingston.

On Sunday, the Livingston Police Department and the Livingston Public School District kicked off Bicycle Safety Week, which will include riding lessons and other safety efforts for local kids.

As part of this year’s campaign, elementary aged children will be encouraged to ride their bikes to school on Wednesday in solidarity with National Bike to School Day. Other activities for younger students will include signing a safe bicycling pledge after viewing a video on bicycle safety. Students from Heritage Middle School are assisting the police department with producing the video.

In addition, the Community Policing Unit will be visiting Mt. Pleasant Middle School to give a presentation on riding safely, police said.

“Officers from the police department will have coupons for free Slurpee drinks provided by 7-Eleven’s Operation Chill, which will be given out to children seen riding safely throughout the week,” Livingston police said in a news release.
