A paedophile was allegedly battered inside a court building – after admitting hoarding indecent images of children.
Blair Mullen was reportedly attacked at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, just seconds after he left one of the building’s courtrooms. He had appeared in the dock at the courthouse in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, to plead guilty over child abuse images.
The 26-year-old admitted possessing pictures of girls as young as six being sexually abused by grown men. The offences were committed at his home between February and March 2022.
He pleaded guilty to two offences brought under Section 52 of the Ciivic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 – one of downloading child abuse images, and one of possessing the banned filth.
Officers stationed at the court raced to the fiend’s aid, breaking up the incident and arrested two men.
Police Scotland confirmed Thursday’s incident. A spokesperson said: “A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the assault of a 26-year-old man, which took place at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court around 10.35am on Thursday, 7 September, 2023.
“A second man, aged 35, was also arrested at the scene in connection with obstruction. Both men have been taken into custody and enquiries are ongoing.”
A spokesperson for the Scottish Courts and Tribunal Service – the body responsible for Scotland’s court buildings – said: “We can confirm there was an incident at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.
“We are unable to comment further as this is now subject to criminal proceedings.” Mullen is due to be sentenced over the indecent images of children later this year.
