The Security Specialist will support the Director of Physical Security and Fire Safety in maintaining the overall safety and security of Time Warner’s employees, property and facilities. This position is responsible for overseeing security officers/guards and for enforcing the security and safety programs throughout Time Warner. Additionally, the incumbent will oversee the security program and operations during special events that are held in the Time Warner Center. 


  • Plan, coordinate, and work in conjunction with Time Warner corporate events personnel, managing all special events held at Time Warner Center.
  • During special events, ensure the entry of guests via lobbies and make sure all policies and building codes are adhered to and all egress is not obstructed.
  • Act as on-site security point of contact for special events and manage contracted security officers/guards during events.
  • Assist with the entry/arrival and exit/departure of VIP’s, Dignitaries and other related special guest, partnering with Law Enforcement as needed.
  • Schedule, deploy and manage contract security officers/guards accordingly.
  • Assist in the deployment of contract security vendors and contractors hired for equipment upgrades, maintenance, and installation of physical security systems.
  • Responsible for the management of the organization’s physical security operations.
  • Assist Director with the supervision, training and certification of Floor Wardens, Deputy Floor Wardens and Evacuation Supervisors.
  • Responsible for implementing code compliance and seeking corrective actions, as required.
  • Oversee the testing, evaluation and use of electronic security systems, closed circuit television (CCTV), access controls, and fire alarm systems.
  • Identify and recommend electronic access control equipment designed to detect unauthorized entry into facilities or property.
  • Conduct periodic risk assessments and recommend measures to protect corporate assets, facilities and operations from exposure to losses.
  • Ensure proper training of security officers/guards on activation and deactivation of all security and fire alarm systems.
  • Respond to and address all security concerns regarding building operations and corporate personnel.


  • Minimum of three to five years’ experience overseeing security programs and personnel.
  • Progressive experience in the armed forces security, military police or with a major law enforcement agency, public or private sector security organization preferred.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications preferred.
  • Fire Safety Director (FSD) and Emergency Action Plan Director (EAPD) certification preferred.
  • Prior experience in conducting and coordinating fire safety and building evacuation drills.
  • Prior experience in meeting the commercial building certification requirements of NYC Fire Department.
  • Sound computer skills and demonstrate an aptitude for information analysis.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Working knowledge of the facility and all fire, life and safety equipment stairways, elevator, HVAC, and mechanical systems operation.
  • Knowledge of fire suppression equipment in a business environment to include “high rise’ applications and demonstrate aptitude in the operation of the Fire Command Station and intercom system.
  • Strong communication skills, the ability to work and collaborate within the various Time Warner business units and across all levels of employees, including senior level executives.
  • Ability to read, write and speak in legible English is required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with diverse groups of individuals both internal and external.
  • Ability to adhere to instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • Exhibit good judgment to determine when to proactively address emergencies and/or crises in a safe, orderly and timely manner.
  • Strong working knowledge of integrated electronic access control and surveillance technology and operational experience in this area is required.
  • Instructional and supervisory capability and adaptability.  
  • Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Flexibility to travel, as needed.
