(Senior) Analyst, Strategy & Market Intelligence (SMI)

Context

The primary role of the (Senior) Analyst, Strategy & Market Intelligence (SMI) is to assist SES in monitoring, measuring, analyzing, understanding and reporting global competitive, market and customer trends in the FSS- and FSS-based services market.
In this role you  will be expected to provide analyses and analysis-based insight to directly support SES’ global, regional and vertical strategic planning, business planning, go-to-market, marketing and communication efforts as well as to answer to ad-hoc requests from EC members and various SES departments.

Responsibilities

The main responsibility of the (Senior) Analyst will be to develop, maintain and improve certain key global intelligence tools for company-wide usage that support SES’ planning, marketing and communication.
As basis for this, the (Senior) Analyst will need to have a good understanding of the satellite industry, the market dynamics in SES’ four verticals, SES’ key competitors and global FSS customers.

Primary responsibilities will be from the following key result areas:
  • Competitive Deal & Pricing Database:
    collection, analysis and communication of detailed global capacity pricing benchmarks
  • Peer Group Benchmarking (PGB) report:
    quarterly update of key financial metrics of competing operators
  • Early Warning report as Sales support:
    communication of renewals, tenders, news with potential satellite capacity demand
  • MS Power BI interactive dashboards:
    creation of relevant dashboards, e.g.: National Satellite Operators, Launches, Drifts, PGB, Pricing, UAVs,…
  • Strategic Plan update:
    support for SMI colleagues in the annual update of SES` Strategic Plan

Experience / Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master degree in business or information systems
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience
  • Strong functional expertise in advanced database work, advanced Excel modeling and data visualization
  • Fluency in spoken and written Business English is essential; additional languages a plus
  • Grounding in primary and secondary market research techniques, tools and sources
  • Good grasp of global satellite communication market dynamics (including space, ground, launch and service sub-segments as well as regulatory framework)
  • Good understanding of market dynamics in SES` four verticals (Video, Enterprise, Mobility, Government)
  • Good technical knowledge of satellite communications and satellite-based products/applications
  • Strong understanding and competency with IT tools:
    • Data visualization (ideally MS Power BI or similar tools)
    • Database management
    • HTML, SQL, VBA
    • MS office
  • “Big Picture” strategic mindset
  • Very good  project management, planning and execution skills: Organized, deadline-focused and able to handle multiple priorities
  • Detail-oriented, highly analytical & methodical, with strong quantitative skills
  • Strong research capability
