Senior Systems Engineer-Digital Signal Processing

Job Description:
RT Logic is a leading supplier of ground signal processing systems (RF, DSP, and digital domains) for satellite operations including custom design, integration, factory test, on-site installation, support to satellite operations and sustainment. Our technology also supports non-space applications. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer in the area of Signals, Navigation and Test.

This position will…

Provide technical leadership, design, and implementation for projects in the Signals, Navigation and Test business area (primary customer base is US Government agencies that use satellite communications technologies)

Provide design direction and oversight to experienced software, firmware, RF and test engineers to develop signal processing solutions for SATCOM customers. Project scope range from a single chassis to complex systems deployed globally.

Work closely with customer to develop system requirements and ensure that system design meets customer requirements throughout the system lifecycle. Identify trade-off options for the customer between system performance, lifecycle cost and technical risk.  Assist with development of test strategies that demonstrate compliance with customer requirements.

Maintain technical project responsibility for assigned tasks, provide technical oversight of subcontractors, and work closely with management to provide status on progress on project development tasks.

Support business development activities in support of both signal processing and navigation products

Represent the Company as a technical advisor in high-level meetings and briefings with both internal staff and customers.

Provide technical support in the role of either Principal Investigator or individual contributor, as required, to internal research and development projects.

Prepare, deliver, and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies in support of both internal projects and business development activities.

Provide technical mentorship to junior technical staff.

Experience and Skills:
Required Qualifications:

  • Possess a genuine passion for engineering and technology that transcends day-to-day work responsibilities and obligations
  • Embody a demonstrated commitment to establishingand maintaining personal awareness and knowledge of current industry standards, technology trends, and emerging technologies relevant to RT Logics business, in conjunction with a a personal desire to continuously evolve and expand ones skillset, expertise, and personal toolbox
  • Be a self-starter, capable of independently identifying, diagnosing, and resolving issues across multiple domains (hardware, firmware, software, algorithms, etc.) without significant oversight or supervision
  • Exhibit a working knowledge of the design and implementation of both signal processing and digital communications systems, relative to both terrestrial and satellite communication systems
  • Have experience with and the demonstrated ability to program in a low level language such as C, C++, Java, etc.
  • Possess experience with Matlab, GNURadio, or a similar environment
  • Ability to travel to provide customer support (typically 10% CONUS travel)
  • Ability to obtain and secure a DOD SECRET security clearance
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Electrical engineering or related degree with 7+ years relevant work or operational experience (typically MSEE/MSCS w/ 5+ years of experience, but willing to consider a range of work and educational levels)



Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with SATCOM links and basic RF design skills, satellite ground system architectures, and testing methodologies as applied to the integration and test of communication systems
  • Familiarity with a subset of other relevant subject matter and technologies, such as: Adaptive filtering, spectral analysis, SIGINT, geolocation, RF channel modeling, orbital mechanics, satellite operations, space situational awareness, GPS signal processing, electronic warfare, cyber warfare, UAV operations, DoD acquisitions, etc.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft .Net environment
  • Familiarity with the Linux operating system
  • Familiarity with packet-switched networks (e.g. TCP/IP) and related protocol analysis tools (e.g. Wireshark)
  • Excellent oral communications skills, and ability to directly interact with customers
  • Experience in US DoD contracts (either on the contractor or Government side)


U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance is required.
