Department Description 

Performs complex computer security duties in the planning, development and maintenance of computer systems security policies and standards

he incumbent will lead critical information security-related activities, including the planning and development of information security strategy in support of the Authority’s strategic plan. 

This position requires an in depth understanding of data breach reporting laws, generally accepted information security principles and related information technology security best practices. 

The incumbent must be familiar with commonly used IT technology security controls and tools and have knowledge of software development lifecycles, IT operations, data center operations, IT project management methodologies, IT hardware/software architectures and IT auditing and compliance practices. 

Ideally, the incumbent should be familiar with CISCO network solutions and be able to prepare and present complex information security concepts and reports to a wide range of technical and non-technical stake holders.

Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform one or more of the activities described below.

Analyzes and maintains existing software & hardware, proposed modifications, and new software packages for impact on current operating systems regarding information security. 

· 

Assists project leaders in implementing security controls for new and/or upgraded software applications. 

· 

Measures system performance for optimization on newly adopted software, hardware, and configuration changes. 

· 

Audits security logs and other data sources to ensure policy and standards compliance. 

· 

Coordinates with vendors and users on identification of software, network, security, hardware problems and system modifications or enhancements. 

· 

Prepares user instructional documentation and trains personnel on new technology and software upgrades regarding information security. 

· 

Identifies and reports security related anomalies. 

· 

Participates in qualitative risk analysis and performs gap analysis. 

· 

Leads or assists with digital forensic and cyber related investigations. 

· 

Complete packet capture and malware analysis. 

· 

Develops, implements, and maintains security policies and standards; insures all policies and standards are updated as needed to stay within compliance of any audit findings or changing technology requirements. 

· 

Performs other related duties as required. 

Job Requirements 

Associate’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in information systems, computer science or related field and 10 years of security knowledge. 

Applicable and documented professional work experience can be substituted in lieu of a degree. 

Technical experience is required in a diverse range of IT systems – specifically with PCI compliance, logging and correlation solutions, vulnerability management solutions, Microsoft enterprise technologies, Cisco enterprise technologies, and Linux technologies, PCI compliance, application whitelisting, intrusion detection, firewalls, vulnerability management solutions; and at least one technical certification obtained in the last three years from the following organizations: Cisco, A Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or any certification from Offensive Security is highly preferred.
