SIOUX CENTER—A 22-year-old Sioux Center man was arrested Thursday, Sept. 7, on a Sioux County warrant for sex offender registration violation — second or subsequent offense.

The arrest of Brady Christopher DeJong-Pedersen stemmed from him stating he had a TikTok account during a July 14 investigation into other violations of the Iowa Sex Offender Registry, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.

As a registered sex offender, DeJong-Pedersen is required to report any new internet identifiers to the sheriff’s office within five business days.

A search warrant was obtained for DeJong-Pedersen’s cellphone, and a TikTok account was found showing activity as early as February. A review of the publicly accessible TikTok account showed DeJong-Pedersen posting videos of himself as early as January.

DeJong-Pedersen did not report the new internet identifier to the sheriff’s office, according to the incident report.

A warrant for his arrest was issued Sept. 5.
