
A Cayuga County sex offender has been arrested for attempting to exchange sexually explicit photos with a minor.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a joint investigation in conjunction with the FBI, State Police, and Cayuga County Probation Department found 44-year-old Brien Fredendall of Mentz was using internet accounts he did not register with the state’s Department of Criminal Justice while attempting to commit his crime.
As a registered sex offender, he is required to register internet accounts with the state.
Fredendall was arrested Wednesday on felony charges of Failure to Report Internet Identifies and Attempted Dissemination of Indecent Material to Minors. He was arraigned, and taken to the Cayuga County Jail.
Fredendall was convicted in 2010 of possessing child pornography.
