Sex offender compliance check conducted | #childpredator | #kidsaftey | #childsaftey

DAYTON — In an effort to keep children and the community safe, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) partnered with Adult Parole Authority (APA) on Halloween night to conduct compliance checks.

These are checks of sex offenders on parole to ensure that they were not participating in Halloween Trick-Or-Treat. Between MCSO and APA, 24 detectives and parole officers were scattered throughout the county to conduct checks on offenders who were specifically not permitted to pass out candy on Halloween based on the terms of their parole.

Detectives and officers visited 83 registered sex offenders throughout Montgomery County to check for parole violations. Out of 83 registered sex offenders, three individuals were arrested for unrelated parole violations and were taken into custody without incident.

“These checks provide an added layer of public safety for families in our community by ensuring those who are required to be compliant are doing so,” said Sheriff Rob Streck. “We are grateful for our partnership with APA and look forward to doing more of these proactive operations in the future.”

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Registry Notification (SORN) unit offers a tool, free of charge for residents to utilize to search for offenders in their area. Residents can go online to utilize this tool by visiting https://bit.ly/3QEKmL5.
