AUSTIN, Texas — Governor Abbott has announced a program to help at-risk youth and families across the state, while allowing Texans to financially support their favorite restaurants.

The Holiday Comfort Food Care Package program aims to help people and businesses struggling due to COVID-19.

Through the program, Texans can choose to order a food care package that will be delivered to someone in need this holiday season.

Each care package will contain enough food to feed a family of five to six and will be delivered directly to their homes.

Recipients include small children, youth, and families served by the Texas network of Family and Youth Success Programs, select Boys and Girls Clubs, and agencies that serve child sex trafficking victims.

“The Holiday Comfort Food Care Package program will provide holiday meals for our most vulnerable youth and families, while giving Texans another way to support local restaurants and their fellow Texans experiencing hardships due to COVID-19,” said Governor Abbott.

The Holiday Comfort Food Care Package (CFCP) program utilizes the following steps:

  1. All participating restaurants list CFCP on their online ordering portals/apps/websites
  2. Customers, add CFCPs to their food orders and finalize their purchase at checkout.
  3. Participating service providers identify families and shelters with most need and work with said participating restaurants to get meals delivered.

“Thank you to the generous Texans across the state for stepping up during this holiday season to provide meals to families in need.” Governor Abbott added.

All restaurant owners interested in participating may sign up on the Texas Restaurant Association website.
