A sexual predator was recently sentence in two Will County court cases. Jason Escalante, 28, of Braidwood pled guilty to two counts of the Unlawful Presence Within a School Zone, a class four felony and was sentenced to three years in prison on each count, which will run consecutively. Escalante was arrested by the Braidwood Police Department at the front parking lot of the Reed-Custer Elementary School on May 24th.
Braidwood Officers observed Escalante, who is a known sex offender, drive through the front parking lot of the Reed-Custer Elementary School to drop off his girlfriend’s child. Escalante was taken into custody a short time later. The school was notified immediately. According to the Illinois Department of Corrections, Escalante was sentenced to two years in prison for Violating the Illinois Sex Offender Registry, a class three felony in September of 2021 and another two-year prison term for the same charge in 2018.
Escalante was also sentenced to one year in prison for Indecent Solicitation of a Child in 2017. In March of 2017, Escalante was arrested by the Braidwood Police Department at Goodrich Park for having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female he had met on Facebook. The police department was notified of the incident after friends of the female notified school staff. A 17-year-old female was also with Escalante in his car at the time he was arrested.
