Placer County residents will now be able to voice their opinions on the placing of a sexually violent predator, William Stephenson, on their streets.Earlier this month a judge granted Stephenson’s release as a transient within Placer County.The health provider in charge of finding Stephenson housing said they plan to place him in an RV.Placer County Sheriffs describe Stephenson as a convicted sexually violent predator who spent approximately three decades in state prison for his “horrendous crime.”Their office went on to say Stephenson was released in 2014 only to be arrested again in 2017 for possession of child pornography.At the time of publication, Stephenson is receiving treatment at a state hospital.The Placer County District Attorney’s Office is now opening a case portal to enable residents the ability to both give feedback, as well as receive case updates.Stephenson’s hearing is open to the public and is scheduled for Sep. 1 at 8:30 A.M. in Auburn.
