Singles can swipe right on Tinder to apply for the new series of Love Island | #tinder | #pof | romancescams | #scams

Tinder has announced that for the first time ever singles can apply through the online dating app to be on the new series of Love Island.

This is the first time that ITV has worked with a dating app in this way and, if chosen, Tinder members will be added to a ‘priority list’ and guaranteed to be seen by the casting team and one step closer to cosying up by the famous fire pit.

From today singles can apply for this summer’s series by making just one swipe right, making their Tinder profile the first audition for the ITV2 dating show.

Swipe cards will appear in between Tinder members’ stack of potential matches – so all they need to do is swipe right and their official Tinder profile will be submitted to the Tinder team for review and verification.

If their Tinder profile is selected by the Tinder team, Love Island hopefuls will be contacted via email by Tinder.

Last year mentions of Love Island in Tinder bios increased by 30 per cent between the first episode of the winter series in January 2020 and the final episode in the following month.

Tinder and Love Island has issued five top tips to get profiles noticed.

1.Trust in your sauce – When applying for the show be authentic and show off your unique personality by creating a bio that gives the insight into the real you.

2.It’s all about you – Make sure you upload pictures that best represent you. Ditch the group shots and go solo in front of the camera.

3. Good vibes – Show off what you love to do in your spare time by sharing you hobbies and interests, add in your Spotify anthems and generally a bit more about you.

4. Lay it on Factor 50 – The more you tell Tinder the more likely you are to get noticed. Make sure you select your ‘passions’ in your profile.

5. Seriously single – They need to see that you’ve been looking for love on Tinder.

Renate Nyborg, EMEA general manager at Tinder, said: “Bringing together the world’s most popular dating app and an iconic dating show is the perfect match!

“Tinder has the UK’s widest and most diverse community of singletons, so as this long-awaited dating season heats up, being on Tinder can change everything whether that’s sparking new connections, or kicking off your journey to the Love Island villa!”

Paige and Finn won the winter Love Island

Simon Daglish, ITV’s deputy managing director for commercial, said: “We love when brands like Tinder couple up with our programmes and it’s a perfect partner for the hugely anticipated return of Love Island this summer.

“This is the first time we’ve worked with a dating app in this way and I’m sure Tinder members will be excited to get involved with the show.”

Earlier this month ITV confirmed Love Island would be returning this summer.

Managing director of media and entertainment Kevin Lygo said: “There’s so much to look forward to on ITV this spring and into summer, with the Euros and the return of Love Island, but much more besides.”

If it follows the pattern of previous years the show, which launched in 2015, should air at the beginning of June and run for eight weeks while the winter series lasts for six weeks.

There was no summer series in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The winter series in January 2020 was won by Paige Turley and Finn Tapp, who have since moved in together in Manchester, and Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea won the summer 2019 series.

In the same series Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury, from Manchester, found love and are still going strong.
