Come take a spin around the Burnsville Town Square or try out an obstacle course during Bikes and Wheels on Saturday, June 10th from 9:00 am – 11:00 am! Bring your bike, scooter, wheelchair, rollerskates, or anything with wheels to take part in this Sizzlin’ Summer Series event.
The Square will be closed to vehicular traffic during the event so you can enjoy obstacle courses, races, and more fun. This is a fun event for adults and kids in wheelchairs to show off their skills too! Pedal your way to a delicious smoothie while riding the “Fender-Blender” smoothie making bike! Helmets are required to participate, but there will be free take-home helmets for anyone at the helmet fitting station. Plus, enjoy the AMY Regional Library Bookmobile!
The Yancey County Health Department will host a Car Seat Check Event where the community can drive through the back parking lot of First Baptist Church to have car seats checked and any questions answered. A Child Passenger Safety Technician will help install car seats or check the safety of already installed seats. This is a great opportunity to ensure your child’s safety if you have ever questioned whether those car seats are properly and safely installed in your vehicle.
The Sizzlin’ Summer Series offers 12 weeks of fun, free physical activity opportunities to bring kids, families, and community members of all ages and skill levels together. Thank you to The Yancey Fund and the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina for making this year’s Sizzlin’ Summer Series possible!
Healthy Yancey, a program of Partners Aligned Toward Health, is a partnership of concerned citizens working together to improve the quality of health for all people in Yancey County. Healthy Yancey developed the Sizzlin’ Summer Series in an effort to increase connections between neighbors and people, increase physical activity, and create fun ways to play and be active in our community.
