Governor Gavin Newsom has signed a bill into state law that would impose first-of-its-kind requirements for social media companies. The bill would make social media companies publish their policies for removing disturbing content, and details on how and when they remove that content. Proponents of the bill said the measure is key to combating online hate speech. The bill was signed into law on Tuesday.
