It’s relatively simple and easily accomplished but it is no child’s play. Rather, it’s all about a child’s safety.

A free child car seat check-up event, part of the California Highway Patrol and Solano Car Seat Connection Program, will be Sept. 23 at the Solano CHP office in Fairfield.

The check-up begins at 8 a.m. and continues to noon at the CHP office, 3050 Travis Blvd.

To schedule an appointment, call (707) 639-5600.

Certified car seat technicians will be checking for old, broken and recalled child safety seats and proper installation.

Note: Children must accompany the vehicle for proper safety seat fitting, CHP officials said.
