SSM Health, Fond du Lac Fire Rescue To Partner On Car Seat Safety Check Event | #childsafety | #kids | #chldern | #parents | #schoolsafey

Using a car safety seat correctly makes a big difference. It is important to choose the right seat for your child’s size and make sure it is used correctly to properly protect your child in a crash.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, car seats reduce the risk of injury in a crash by up to 82% for children. Booster seats reduce the risk for serious injury by 45% for children (ages four to eight). Seat belt use reduces the risk for death and serious injury for older children and adults by almost 50%.

Knowing this importance, SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac and the Fond du Lac Fire Rescue are partnering to offer a free Car Seat Safety Check event from 3 – 6 pm on Wednesday, September 20 at the Fond du Lac Fire Department Station 1, 815 S. Main Street, Fond du Lac.

Certified child passenger safety technicians will:

  • Ensure your new or existing car seat is safe and properly installed
  • Answer questions about making transitions between car seats, booster seats, and regular seat belts
  • Provide assistance with accessing a car seat if you face financial barriers

Participants should bring their child, car seat, car seat instructions, and vehicle owner’s manual to the event.

Certified child passenger safety technicians provide free education on how to use car seats, booster seats, and seat belts. Technicians help educate families on choosing the right car seat for a child, installing the seat correctly, and using the seat correctly every time. They can also discuss the importance of registering car seats with manufacturers, and what to expect if the seat is subject to a safety recall.

Limited availability. Preregistration is required by emailing: [email protected]
