Fergus Hay knew that there was something to his start-up idea when he discovered that a 13-year-old boy in England had, unbeknown to his parents, accumulated $14 million in online bank accounts thanks to years of hacking exploits.

“His mother looked at me and said, ‘I don’t want people to think he is a criminal’ and I was like, ‘Well’,” said Hay, shrugging his shoulders.

That experience was one of many that the marketer turned entrepreneur revealed while talking to cybersecurity experts and teenage hackers about the company he founded a year ago: The Hacking Games.
