New support was announced to help fight cyber attacks.A news release stated the Stillman College Cybersecurity Center received $500,000 in grant funding and additional support from Google’s Cybersecurity Clinics Fund.The grant and support are expected to help develop new cybersecurity professionals and help the community defend against cyber attacks.“A diverse cybersecurity workforce is simply better equipped to handle the challenges of the industry. When we have people from different backgrounds and with different life experiences, we get a wider range of ideas and solutions,” said Melonie Parker, Google’s chief diversity officer. “As an alumna of Hampton University, it gives me great pride to continue Google’s long-standing partnership with historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and support Stillman’s pioneering cybersecurity clinic program.”Stillman College will use the grant money to offer free cybersecurity services to organizations and small businesses, hire students for internships in the clinic, provide scholarships and mentor other colleges as they launch cyber clinics.Your neighborhood: Local coverage from WVTM 13
