Storage Engineer III

Details: Volt Workforce Solutions is hiring for a Storage Engineer III for our client in downtown Boise, ID.  This is an on-site position.  To apply, please submit your resume directly to this job posting.  Qualified candidates meeting client criteria will be contacted by a Volt recruiter.The Storage Engineer III is primarily responsible for designing, installing and supporting storage area networking hardware, software and systems.  The Engineer proposes and creates standards.  The Engineer leads storage infrastructure project teams and participates in the implementation or upgrading of complex applications.  The Engineer resolves complex enterprise storage infrastructure and application processing issues.The storage engineers will be responsible for maintaining the storage systems.  They will be a key project team members responsible for delivering stable and reliable systems including business continuity and disaster recovery storage solutions.  They will provide input into the tactical and strategic direction of the storage environment.  Engineers are designing and refining disaster recovery procedures where virtualization is a key factor. Candidates for the storage engineer must have ten years storage area networking support experience or demonstrated equivalent proficiency in storage engineer.  Experience with EMC vMax highly preferred.  The storage engineers must have excellent communication skills.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInstall, configure, maintain, document, forecast and troubleshoot complex storage systems and appliances.Coordinate with vendors and technical personnel to troubleshoot, maintain, and implement complex and enterprise-wide infrastructure technologies and application based installations.Develop and document standards to ensure high level of information security and availability is considered and maintained within the storage infrastructure.Mentor new engineers and junior members of the department’s technical staff.Design, test and implement procedures and standards for storage infrastructure with enterprise wide impact.Write scripts and batch files to automate tasks.Provide advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis and problem resolution within the storage infrastructure.Provide budget expectations for storage-related hardware and software.Perform on-call duties on a rotational basis, including nights, weekends and holidays.Act as the highest escalation point of contact, with specialized knowledge on both application and storage infrastructure servers.Act as a strategic architect for the enterprise IT systems, ensuring that new IT projects and initiatives are evaluated and implemented in a manner that incorporates the needs of the enterprise.Evaluate new storage software and hardware strategies and provide guidance on storage infrastructure solutions.Provide and complete required tasks for assigned projects.Lead or facilitate enterprise wide storage infrastructure projects.Limited supervision is necessary.Scope InformationUnder limited supervision, design, install, configure, document and troubleshoot complex storage infrastructure technologies.Administer enterprise storage area networks comprising a minimum of four enterprise-class disk sub-systems, containing a minimum of 300 terabytes of data in a highly complex, 24/7 healthcare environment.Manage the backup and archive infrastructure, including a minimum of two backup-to-disk appliances, eight servers and a 6,000 slot tape library in a highly complex, 24/7 healthcare environment.Support and administer disparate storage systems that provide disk for more than 400+ servers with more than seven different operating systems with limited supervision.Monitor, optimize and forecast storage infrastructure needs across a rapidly growing, highly complex, 24/7 health care environment with limited supervision.Architect storage solutions that leverage existing server, operating systems, applications, and technologies which complement each other.Troubleshoot storage issues within critical departments or enterprise wide issues impacting thousands of users.
