A Storm Lake man was sentenced to prison earlier this month in Buena Vista County District Court for failure to comply with sex offender registry requirements.

34-year-old Jose Figueroa Ramirez previously pleaded guilty to the first offense charge of not complying with sex offender registry requirements, an aggravated misdemeanor. He was sentenced on June 6th. The two-year prison term will be served with the Iowa Department of Corrections.

Back on March 15th, Figueroa Ramirez was released from custody at the Buena Vista County Jail. He had five business days to register all relevant information. One week later on March 22nd, Figueroa Ramirez was charged with failure to comply with the sex offender registry after he didn’t report the necessary information to the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office within the allotted time.
