Syracuse, N.Y. — A 15-year-old was shot in the head and in the leg Tuesday night near Lincoln Park, according to Syracuse police.

Police responded to a shooting in progress at 8:51 p.m. in the 1100 block of Hawley Avenue, according to Onondaga County 911 Center dispatches.

The teen was shot in the left leg and in the head, according to dispatches. The bullet did not penetrate his head, police said.

Police cruisers and tape blocked the portion of Hawley Avenue between North Beech Street and Fairview Avenue.

Officers could later be seen searching the park with flashlights.

The teen was taken to Upstate University Hospital and is expected to survive, police said. No other people were reported injured from the shooting.
