A man wanted for sexually abusing a child was arrested following a traffic stop, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
A trooper pulled over a Nissan Titan along Texas 359 for a traffic violation. The driver was identified as Juan Antonio Pech-Chi, 64.
During the stop, the trooper discovered that Pech-Chi had a warrant out of the Laredo Police Department for aggravated sexual assault, a first degree felony.
Pech-Chi was served with the warrant and taken to the Webb County Jail, where he remained behind bars as of Friday.
The sexual assault case dates back to July 25, 2019, when LPD officers responded to the Child Protective Services office on 1500 N. Arkansas Ave. for a late sexual assault of a child report.
The incident occurred when the child was 7 or 8 years old. She was 14 at the time of the report.
She described in detail how Pech-Chi sexually assaulted her inside his four-door black car while parked by a home on Aldama Street. She added that Pech-Chi started to sexually abuse her in 2018, states the affidavit.
Pech-Chi was in the United States illegally. He had fled to Campeche, Mexico a week before the child’s forensic interview, according to court documents.
