The criminals locked up in November in Yorkshire including sick murderers and child abuser | #childpredator | #onlinepredator | #sextrafficing


As the months roll on, so do the wheels of justice across Yorkshire as more criminals enter the court docks.

Some leave the court the same way they came in – through the security doors – but others are taken away in a van to begin their time behind bars.



November has been another busy month, with some of the region’s most dangerous criminals locked up at the courts in Yorkshire. The month saw sentences passed for evil criminals including David Scott, who murdered his former flatmate Sarah Brierley in a jealous rage, and Halifax paedophile Aidan Firth who targeted 14 children and abused them.

We’ve rounded up a list of people locked up in Yorkshire in November.

Leslie Winfindale

Leslie Winfindale was sentenced to nine years in prison and extended licence for one year(Image: South Yorkshire Police)

Sick Winfindale got away with his crimes for three decades – but was finally caught when his victim bravely reported him to the police.

The woman was just seven when she was raped by Winfindale, who made her endure a trial. He was found guilty after just over four hours of jury deliberations and was jailed for nine years in prison. He was made the subject of an extended licence period of one year.

Peshawa Ghaffour

Peshawa Ghaffour has been found guilty of the manslaughter of Mohammed Iqbal(Image: South Yorkshire Police)

Evil Ghaffour stabbed and killed Mohammed Iqbal following a row outside an Indian restaurant.

Ghaffour had been arguing with his partner at the restaurant in Crookes Road, Sheffield, and her son and his friend – Mohammed – went there and a fight broke out. Ghaffour had taken a knife from the restaurant and stabbed Mohammed, who was pronounced dead a short time later in hospital.

Ghaffour was jailed for seven years for manslaughter.

Thomas Keeling

Keeling forced a pool cue and a vacuum pipe down a woman’s throat during a horrific and violent crime spree.

His brave victim reported him to the police that she had been assaulted and needed medical help. Once safe the woman said that on occasions Keeling had “dragged her around a bedroom, beating her, leaving her nearly unconscious before further assaulting her.”

Keeling was jailed for nine years.

Aidan Firth

Halifax paedophile Firth was jailed after he targeted 14 children and abused them. He was put behind bars for 16 years for the offences which included rape of a child, sexual activity with a child, inciting a child into sexual activity and sexual assault.

The offences were said to have taken place between 2015 and 2020 and included 14 victims who were all under 18. They came to light in 2015 when a victim came forward and an investigation was launched, during which more came forward and disclosed further offences.

Philip Flavell

Evil Flavell launched a brutal and violent attack on his partner and a woman who tried to intervene.

The three had been at his family home when the friend took their children to bed and returned to find Flavell beating his partner up. He then turned his attack on the woman. He was jailed for 26 months.

James Cornelly

Cornelly lost his job and was put behind bars after an online paedophile hunter group told his employers he had sent indecent images and said he wanted to “make love” to its decoy account.

A HR staff member then reported him to police and he was arrested. In November, Cornelly was jailed for 30 months.

Mohsin Hussain

Hussain was jailed for nine year and nine months for mowing down seven-year-old Malakye Hall on Manchester Road in Bradford.

Malakye had been left alone by his mum Wendy Hall on August 11, 2020, and had managed to get out of the house when he was hit by Hussain, an unlicensed taxi driver who was under the influence of cannabis at the time.

David Bean, Kacey Bean, Kian Bean and Danny Bean

Four members of the Bean family were locked up for their parts in a violent street fight in The Oval, Sheffield. They had attacked their neighbours before police were called to the area.

David Bean had pleaded guilty to affray and racially aggravated public order and was jailed for 21 months. Danny Bean pleaded pleaded guilty to assault and possession of a bladed article, and was sentenced to 14 months in prison. Kacey Bean admitted affray and assault and was jailed for 10 months.

Kian Bean pleaded guilty to affray and assault and was handed 14 months in a youth offenders institute. He was also disqualified from driving for two years after the court heard he was to also be sentenced for his involvement in an incident on October 1, 2021, when he was driving a car which clipped someone waiting for a taxi on Division Street in Sheffield. The occupants got out of the vehicle and threw a metal canister at the victim causing minor injuries.

Brad Spencer

Brad Spencer attacked a man and left him in a pool of his own blood(Image: South Yorkshire Police)

Spencer punched and stamped on a man in a brutal attack before leaving him in a pool of blood.

He attacked his victim after an argument turned violent in January this year. Spencer at first pushed the man onto a sofa and then pinned him against a wall by his throat before attacking him outside and stomping on his head.

He then fled the scene and tried to get staff in a nearby shop to call him a taxi while the man lay unconscious. He was handed an 18-year sentence – made up of 13 years in prison and an extended five-year licence period.

Brett Ainley

Kleptomaniac Brett Ainley kept explosive substances at his home(Image: South Yorkshire Police)

Rotherham hoarder Ainley was jailed after his home was raided by officers and they discovered an explosive substance, which was said to have been capable of causing serious injury or death.

The kleptomaniac was said to have lived in a “disordered” and “untidy” home and claimed to have taken the substance off his son’s friend and “forgotten” about it.

He was jailed for 16 months.

Zak Livsey

Evil predator Livsey repeatedly exposed himself and sexually assaulted a teenage girl. He targeted his first victim as she watched TV – masturbating in her presence.

Over a year later he targeted another victim – this time a 14-year-year old girl – who he sexually assaulted and then masturbated in front of. Livsey was jailed for 23 months.

George Grace

Paedophile George Grace is now behind bars(Image: West Yorkshire Police)

Grace was jailed for 14 years after his victim bravely came forward and reported the abuse he had subjected her to. Grace was found guilty of rape and two counts of indecent assault.

It was said the offences took place between 1985 and 1992 in the Huddersfield area when she was a young child. The woman urged other survivors to come forward and report crimes.

Aaron Barnsley

Prolific criminal Barnsley gave officers the slip despite being handcuffed after he claimed to have a dislocated shoulder.

Barnsley managed to escape on a passing motorbike when he was taken to A&E. He was at large for just four hours before he was back in the hands of the prison service. He was jailed for 28 months.

Jamie Goose

Sick Barnsley rapist Goose broke into a woman’s house with an axe and knife, strangled and raped her.

Goose told the woman she “deserved to be treated like that” after the horrific attack in April this year. Before the incident he bombarded her with messages and phone calls telling her “you’ll be crying tonight.” He was jailed for 14 years.

Sexual predator Honour targeted underage girls and raped one of his victims while she was asleep.

He was jailed for ten-and-a-half years after a court heard he posed a risk to young girls and had cruelly manipulated and sexually abused them.

Ronald Sekanjako

Ronald Sekanjako will serve a life sentence for murder(Image: South Yorkshire Police)

FedEx worker Sekanjako was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 27 years for the murder of Philip Woodcock.

Jurors heard how he had stabbed the 60-year-old three times in front of horrified colleagues at the FedEx depot in Hellaby in November last year. It was said that Sekanjako had been convinced his pay had been incorrect and had made demands as he entered the office area. Company records showed Sekanjako had in fact been paid correctly and that the latest invoice had been settled an hour before Mr Woodcock’s death.

James Gilroy

Thief Gilroy terrorised shop workers with his “wanton, feral behaviour” during the course of a crime spree. He targeted stores like Boots, TK Maxx and Sainsbury’s across the region.

He was only caught when police spotted the Ford Fiesta that had been noted to be in the areas where the crimes had taken place and pursued it. Gilrow was jailed for three years in November.

Vile rapist Tjani was locked up for 12 years and three months after he followed a woman home and raped her. The brave victim reported the horrifying act and South Yorkshire Police began an investigation.

Tijani was jailed for 12 years and three months.

Nathaniel Elsmore

Evil Elsmore tormented a woman for nine months, causing her “serious harm.” A court heard the pair had met online before he went on to stalk her and send her abusive and threatening messages and phone calls.

He was jailed for seven years.

Anmol Chana

Chana was serving a life sentence with a minimum term of 36 years at “Monster Mansion,” HMP Wakefield, for the murders of his mother and stepfather when he targeted a fellow inmate.

He appeared in the doorway of the man’s cell and threw very hot water at his face. The man suffered injuries to his face and chest and was left in excruciating pain in the attack. Another two years were added onto Chana’s sentence.

Raymond Douglas Mackley

Evil predator Mackley showed “no remorse” as he was jailed for a catalogue of child sex offences.

He was jailed for 12 years after being found guilty of eight counts of sexual activity with a child, six counts of sexual assault against a child under 13, and two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

Mackley’s sickening acts came to lights when one of his victims told a family member she had been abused by him as a child, but kept it a secret for years. Her disclosure also led to another victim coming forward who had also suffered similar abuse.

Thief Cowell was jailed after he admitted 22 offences of theft. He was caught by police after he left a trial of blood at one of the scenes. He was put behind bars for 28 weeks.

David Scott and Zoe Clark

Evil Scott bludgeoned Sarah Brierley to death with a claw hammer in a jealous rage and stole from her while she lay dead.

He told handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 29 years in November after a jury found him guilty of murder. Scott’s ex-girlfriend, Zoe Clark, was found not guilty of murder and manslaughter but guilty of theft alongside him. The charge related to the couple stealing a TV, pressure cooker and coffee machine while Sarah lay dead. She was jailed for a year.

Jake Pawson

Jake Pawson was dealing for ‘significant profit’(Image: West Yorkshire Police)

“Foolish” dad Pawson started dealing class A drugs to raise money after being refused contact with his child.

A court heard his life had “dramatically changed” since the property he was staying at was raided by police in 2020. Officers seized £6,283.81 in cash, four boxes of pregabalin, a list of names and figures, a mobile phone, scales with white powder residue and almost 8g of cocaine.

He was jailed for two years and four months.

Manzar Naqui

Mean burglar Naqui paraded as a ward manager in order to steal clothes and items from a wallet of an elderly man.

He targeted two pensioners during his crime spree in September this year, a court heard, and was jailed for six years.

Marc Raven

Romance fraudster Raven was jailed in November after it was found he targeted two women – and even married one and encouraged her to sell her house.

He pretended to have money tied up in a Singaporean bank and between June 2018 and May 2019, the woman transferred him more than £200,000 and had to declare herself bankrupt and move in with family. An investigation found he had also stole thousands from a woman in Singapore. he was jailed for eight years.

Robert Wilcox

Vile thug Wilcox attacked a pensioner with a barbell as he pleaded with him to stop. He was jailed for two-and-a-half years for the attack which saw him go to the man’s house and talk before pouncing.

Wilcox pinned him down on the kitchen floor while he repeatedly punched him and made threats. The victim feared he would die.

Some time later, Wilcox went into the living room and began to punch the man’s TV before fleeing the scene, leaving him dazed and in severe pain lying on the floor. The man said he has been left with extremely painful injuries and is now fearful of leaving the house.

Jordan Lill and Christopher Milson

Drivers Lill and Milson were locked up for seven-and-a-half years in November after they killed Carl Queen while they raced their cars through Doncaster.

Carl, 34, had just been dropped off by a taxi at around 11.15pm after a night out on July 30, 2020, and was crossing the road when he was hit. He tragically died at the scene and a post-mortem examination later concluded he had died as a result of multiple injuries. Lill stopped at the scene and Milson turned his car around and went back before fleeing.

Jonathan Gee

Jonathan Gee has been told he will be spending an extra three years behind bars

Sick Gee was given an extra three years in prison after a court heard that more of his crimes had come to light after he was jailed last year.

He was sentenced in 2022 but has been handed a longer term after admitting sexually assaulting a young girl.

Violent Betker was jailed for 30 months after he spat in a woman’s face and then grabbed her by the throat after she refused to stay with him. He was still on prison licence at the time.

Teenage boy

A 13-year-old boy was told he must spend two years in custody after mowing down his foster carer Marcia Grant with her own car.

The 60-year-old suffered catastrophic injuries as she and her husband Delroy tried to stop the boy, now 13, from taking their vehicle from the house in the Greenhill area of Sheffield.

Sheffield Crown Court heard on Wednesday that the boy – who must not be identified for legal reasons – had never driven before and struggled to control the car when he reversed into Mrs Grant, knocking her over and reversing over her.

The boy was also disqualified from driving for six years and is required to take an extended driving test at the end of that time.
