Evil criminals who target and sexually abuse children appear before judges at the courts across Yorkshire every day.
Prosecutors outline the circumstances of their offending, going into detail about what they have done and how they have gone about their offending before a judge hands down their sentence. Some are locked up for a long amount of time, some for a number of months and others are ordered to serve their sentence in the community, undertaking unpaid work and programmes aimed at helping them overcome their sick desires.
Here are the sex offenders who have appeared in court in Yorkshire so far this year that every parent needs to know about.

Jonathon Warren
Sick Warren was handed a life sentence after it was discovered he was sexually abusing children. He will have to serve a minimum term of six years and eight months after admitting a series of sexual abuse charges relating to two young girls.
He was arrested last October after police received information that he had been involved in the distribution of indecent images. Officers seized Warren’s devices and discovered 2,086 indecent images of children. Among the images and videos were ones which showed him committing sexual acts on the two complainants, who were nine and 12 years old at the time.

Michael Peter Wilson
Sick Wilson was jailed after being found guilty of sexually abusing a child in Doncaster. It was said he subjected the girl – who was under 13 years old – to numerous and repeated sexual offences.
He was jailed for 21 years.

John William Renel
Former teacher Renel was jailed for 18 years after being found guilty of sexually abusing a girl in the 1990s. The charges included one count of rape and four counts of indecent assault.
Renel was described by police as a “predatory child abuser.”

Jamie Alexander Wheeler
Wheeler, a former teacher, was jailed for four years and ten months after it was discovered he kept a “paedophile manual.”
A colleague reported concerns after seeing inappropriate images on his laptop and he went on to admit possessing a paedophile manual, three counts of making indecent images of children, six counts of sexual touching, eight counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity, two counts of taking an indecent photo of a child and two counts of meeting a child to engage in a sexual act.

Christopher Marsden
Sick Marsden’s parents were left in “trauma” after a paedophile vigilante group went to look for him. He was handed a four-month sentence suspended for two years after pleading guilty to being an adult attempting to engage sexually with a child, sexual communication with a child and possessing a prohibited image of a child.
He had posed as a 15-year-old and began chatting with a 15-year-old – now known to be a decoy. It was said that conversation turned sexual but Marsden “kept saying he was aware of their age but still engaged in conversation.”

Edem Sutton
Sutton was jailed for six years and six months in April for sexually abusing a child while they slept.
He assaulted the boy after months of grooming him by buying him gifts, taking him on bike rides and speaking to him on social media. He manipulated the victim into staying at his home in October 2019 before the sickening assault. Sutton then sent the boy messages telling him not to tell anyone what had happened.

Mohammed Kammer, Nahman Mohammed, Wiqas Mahmud, Mohammed Imran Ibrar and Abdul Rehman
The five were jailed for a total of 28 years following the conclusion of a trial under Operation Tendersea – a long-running investigation carried out by West Yorkshire Police focusing on the sexual exploitation and abuse of young girls in the Huddersfield area between 2005 and 2020.
They were all found guilty of carrying out or facilitating the sexual abuse of a young girl in the Huddersfield area between 2005 and 2020. The abuse started when the girl was just 14-years-old.
Rehman was sentenced to three years and nine months after being convicted of two offences of engaging in or facilitating a child sex offence and supplying drugs. Kammer was jailed for seven years and six months after being found guilty of three counts of rape and a trafficking for sexual exploitation offence.
Mohammed was jailed for seven years after being convicted of two rape offences and trafficking for sexual exploitation. Mahmud was jailed for six years and three months after being convicted of rape and Ibrar was jailed for five years – minus time spent on remand – after being convicted of sexual assault and rape. The time he had spent on remand was three years and six months.

David Smith
Bradford paedophile Smith was jailed in April for eleven-and-a-half years for raping a child.
He was also made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will also be required to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life. The offending took place on several occasions between 2003 and 2009 during the victim’s childhood, who reported the crimes as an adult.

Saeed Haq
Former Halifax teacher Haq was jailed in April after being found guilty of nine charges of sexual assault. Bradford Crown Court heard Haq had sexually abused a teenage girl over a period of seven years.
It was said the abuse started with Haq massaging the girl’s thighs before it went on to him touching other parts of her body. In a statement read to the court the now adult woman said she is “tormented by the memory of the abuse” she suffered at Haq’s hands.
Haq was jailed for eight years.

Dennis Lane
“Weird old man” Lane was jailed in April after he was spotted by a concerned woman speaking with his face close to a young girl who “looked uncomfortable.” He was subject to a sexual harm prevention order at the time, having previously committed sexual offences against children and possessing indecent images.
It was said Lane admitted having a “fixation” with the girl who he had already previously spoken to on a number of occasions. It was said a woman was told by her daughters that a “weird old man” would stop and talk to them. After a report was made, officers searched Lane’s home and found images of children inside a Diana Princess of Wales book, a crossword book and two Nativity DVDs. There were also pictures of children in a bin liner and a two-and-a-half-foot child-like doll.
Lane was jailed for three years.

Thomas Brookes
Brookes, from Rotherham, was locked up earlier this year for 12 years for raping two children. He targeted both victims when they were under 13 and was found guilty of nine counts of rape of a child under the age of 13.

Cameron Edwards
Sick teenager Edwards raped a 14-year-old girl and filmed himself sexually assaulting a 16-year-old.
Following his arrest, police also found 6,200 indecent images on his phone, many of which were category A – the most serious. He was sentenced to 65 months in a Young Offenders’ Institute.

Komar Marden
Sick Bradford dad was jailed for 11 years after it was discovered he groomed a teenage girl for sex and then offered her money to not give evidence against him.
A court heard how the sexual abuse was subsequently reported to the police, but during the court process contact was made with the complainant’s partner via Facebook and Mardan’s co-accused Hamaad Naser, 21, made a telephone call in which money was offered in return for her not giving evidence.

Paul Anthony Smith
Smith was spared a jail sentence in April after targeting lone women and children at bus stops in Halifax. Dubbed “Britain’s Worst flasher” he exposed himself in a number of separate disgusting incidents last year. Smith was finally arrested after one of them had been captured on Calderdale Council CCTV equipment.
He already had 113 previous convictions for similar behaviour and in 2010, Liverpool Crown Court imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) in a bid to stop him from offending. As he appeared at Bradford Crown Court, Smith was handed a sentence that was suspended for two years.

School caretaker and ex-solder was jailed for 11-and-a-half years for rape offences which began when he was at school. He committed his crimes between the ages of 15 and 21.
He admitted a series of rape offences committed against a young girl.

Stanislav Himal and Jozef Fedor
Sick friends Himal and Fdor targeted two “missing” teenage girls and subjected them to a sex attack. The girls were approached by father-of-seven Himal in Bradford in 2019 when he appeared to be finding an address.
He took them back to the home of Fedor and the pair subjected the girls to sexual assaults.
They were both jailed for more than 12 months.

Scott Jones
Jones was stung by a paedophile vigilante group again and was jailed earlier this year after becoming engaged in sexualised chat with who he thought was a 13-year-old girl.
He was told the decoy’s name and asked her if she would have sex with him before being “stung” by the group.

Sick Emms was jailed for three years and nine months after he sexually assaulted and filmed a girl in the shower. Emms kept the images.

70-year-old Gill was jailed for eight years and nine months after he pleaded guilty to raping a girl. He initially said the girl had consented to sex but later admitted being truly sorry for what he had done.

David Hammond
Sick Halifax child abuser Hammond was given an extended sentence of 18 years after a judge decided he still posed a danger to young girls. He was found guilty of a series of non-recent sexual abuse charges relating to a young girl.
It was said Hammond made threats to secure his victim’s silence and had clearly acted in a “sexually predatory manner.” The girl said she had suffered nightmares and described Hammond as an “awful, disgusting man.”

William Grassby
Paedophile Grassby is now behind bars after arranging to meet a 14-year-old boy at Meadowhall for sex. Grassby, formerly of Spring Close View in Sheffield, also messaged who he thought to be a 12-year-old boy – but was actually an undercover police officer – on social media. He began to send multiple sexual messages to the “boy,” asking what his sexual interests were and arranging to meet up and have sex.
Once Grassby was arrested his electronic devices were seized and they showed his engagement in multiple sexual communications with suspected children. He was jailed for two years.

Anthony Woodward
Sheffield rapist Woodward was jailed for 15 years and six months after being found guilty of three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault and two counts of attempted sexual assault.
The 60-year-old attacked two teenage girls – forcing himself on one, ignoring her pleas for him to stop as she yelled “no” before he raped her. The other girl told investigating officers Woodward would tell her not to tell anybody about the sexual abuse her carried out on her.

Faqir Mohammed
Bradford sex offender Mohammed avoided an immediate prison sentence in March this year after a court heard he was “dangerously ill.”
The 84-year-old was told his victim forgave him. He was found guilty of seven charges relating to his sexual touching of a young girl and was handed a two-year sentence suspended for two years.

Christian Wood
Evil Wood was jailed earlier this year and handed an extended sentence of 13 years for sexually abusing his stepdaughter.
Olivia Outram bravely waived her right to anonymity after telling a court she is “free” and is “going to thrive.” The court heard Wood abused her from the ages of eight for a period of six years before she bravely reported him to the police when she was 17-years-old. Following a trial at Sheffield Crown Court, Wood was found guilty of sexual assault of a child – related to three instances, four counts of sexual activity of a child and one count of sexual communication with a child.
It was said the charge of sexual communication with a child related to another young girl who was 14 at the time.

Tyler Ward
Sick Ward was jailed after he threatened to take his own life if she ended their “relationship.” The girl – who reported Ward to the police in 2021 – told officers his demands for sex were “persistent” and she “just gave in to please him.”
A court heard Ward also threatened her family. He was made the subject of an extended sentence made up of a five-year custodial sentence and extended licence period of four years.

Mark Ireland
Barnsley paedophile Ireland avoided an immediate prison sentence after asking a 12-year-old for pictures in her underwear. It was said he lost his job, marriage, relationship with his children and grandchildren as a result of his offending. A court was told he pleaded guilty to attempting to engage a child in sexual communication after being caught by an undercover officer.
He was made the subject of a six month sentence suspended for 18 months.

Sayeed Hafeez
Grooming gang member Hafeez was finally sentence but managed to avoid prison when he appeared in court in February.
It was said he was 23 when he took a 15-year-old girl to two beauty spots in West Yorkshire and had sexual activity with her. Bradford Crown Court heard the girl had already been groomed and abused by a number of other men who had previously been sentenced.
Hafeez was handed a sentence of two years suspended for two years.

Sick Huddersfield paedophile Harper sexually abused a “young and vulnerable” boy and was jailed for six years and six months. He had been found guilty of four counts of indecent assault following a trial at Leeds Crown Court.

Mohammed Ilyas Alibhai
Alibhai was jailed for a year earlier this year after a jury found him guilty of three charges of sexual activity with a child.
The former imam and teacher at a Bradford mosque sexually abused a teenage boy around 15 years ago while he held a position of trust at the mosque. It was said he had hugged, kissed and rubbed himself against the teenager.

Nathan Thomas McCracken
McCracken was jailed in February after sexually assaulting a teenager as she rode her horse in a rural North Yorkshire road. He attacked the girl in July last year. After he drove past her, McCracken turned his car around and wound down his window to talk to her before getting out of the vehicle and sexually assaulting her.
He was jailed for four years and seven months.

Jamie Ward
Sheffield rapist Ward was jailed for nearly 20 years.
It was said Ward subjected a teenage girl to “horrendous sexual abuse” when she was under 16-years-old. Sheffield Crown Court heard he preyed on the girl and raped and sexually assaulted her, forcing her to engage in horrific sexual acts. His victim bravely came forward and reported the abuse when she was an adult.

Child rapist Janjua dictated a “retraction letter” to his teenage victim in a bid to get the charges against him dropped – but he was jailed for 13 years.
A court heard he had forced himself on the girl in an isolated location when he raped her.

Predator Holroyd followed a teenage boy to the toilets in a Wakefield pub and sexually assaulted him. The 17-year-old had been the subject of “unwanted attention” from Holroyd who then went on to assault him.
He was jailed for eight months.

Melvyn Richardson
Richardson was jailed earlier this year after being found guilty of sexual offences against two children. The offending took place a decade apart and one of Richardson’s victims reported that they had been abused.
In a police interview, Richardson said he had not sexually assaulted the girls and was instead trying to “educate” them. He was jailed for 19 years.

Andrew Pollard
Sick Pollard narrowly avoided a prison sentence in January after sharing images of children being abused in a WhatsApp group filled with other paedophiles.
He had also searched for indecent images of children and sent an indecent image of an underage girl to a teenage boy. Pollard was made the subject of a two-year sentence suspended for two years.

Mark Andrews
Andrews, who raped and sexually abused a child, was put behind bars earlier this year. A court heard he abused the girl between the 1980s and 1990s and would even physically assault her, leaving her with injuries and forcing her to lie to teachers about how she had got them.
He was found guilty of rape, cruelty to a child, indecent assault and gross indecency and jailed for 15 years.
