‘They need one little, tiny gap’ | #ransomware | #cybercrime


A sliver of weakness is all a highly skilled cybercriminal with the right tools needs to hijack a victim’s operations, says the firm the City of Hamilton has hired to help fend off an ongoing ransomware attack.

Negotiations with such “threat actors” in an increasingly sophisticated cybercrime arena can turn on human emotions, sensitivity of data and urgency to restore systems.
