JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio (WTRF) — A vehicle belonging to a fugitive and convicted sex offender has been found in Jefferson County, but Keith Roberts is still on the run.

He is suspected of a third child sex crime following two prior convictions and led police on a chase through Mingo Junction yesterday.

Authorities have located his white Nissan Versa abandoned along County Road 74.

Federal and local agencies all searched the area where the car was found, including an aviation unit from the state patrol.

However, Roberts has not been found as of Friday evening.

Wells Township Police Chief Sean Norman has warned about him for weeks, calling him a “monster” and a “demon.”

“He’s still out there and he knows we’re looking for him. So there’s some comfort in that, that every time he hears a noise, he’s looking over his shoulder because he’s worried about being found and being caught. And again, that’s what cowards do. Cowards do these kind of crimes and cowards try to hide from the police afterwards.”

Roberts’ 2016 GMC Sierra truck spray painted black is still missing.

He became a Tier 3 sex offender in New York, but Chief Norman says he never registered in Ohio when he moved here.

Officials say not to approach Roberts if you see him but to call 911 instead.
