Tinder allows singles to connect with users around the globe in a time of isolation – Lifestyle | #tinder | #pof | romancescams | #scams

Amid the alarming COVID-19 spread that has led to countries implementing self-isolation policy, dating app Tinder has made its previously paid feature named Passport available for free until April 30.

Passport, which is a paid feature for Tinder Plus and Gold subscribers, enables users to choose a city in other countries and interact with other Tinder users in that city.

Following the implementation of self-quarantine policies across the globe, Tinder recorded that the use of Passport had surged by up to 15 percent in Brazil, 19 percent in Germany, 20 percent in France and 25 percent in India during the last week of March.

According to a statement, Tinder users were also recorded increasingly enjoying interacting with new people and maintaining long conversations. In Indonesia, the average conversation and its duration among users has increased by 23 percent and become 19 percent longer, respectively, based on Feb. 20 to March 26 data.

“We’re glad that the Passport feature enables Tinder users to get acquainted with other users in this world,” said Tinder CEO Elie Seidman in the statement. “We hope that the users who are feeling anxious and are longing for communicating with other people can use this feature to ‘travel’ to anywhere out of their quarantined place.”

Passport is available for 11.12 iOS and Android devices. It can be accessed by tapping your profile icon, choosing the Setting option, selecting the Location option and choosing “Add new location”. (wir/kes)
