Treasury Sanctions Chinese Hackers for Targeting U.S. Infrastructure – The Presidential Prayer Team | #hacking | #cybersecurity | #infosec | #comptia | #pentest | #hacker

U.S. and UK imposed sanctions, filed charges, and accused China of a massive cyberespionage campaign.

The Department of the Treasury sanctioned two Chinese nationals and one Chinese company this week for their alleged role in a widespread hacking effort targeting water and electrical infrastructure in the U.S.

This action was taken after the Department of Justice unsealed indictments against the entities and others, accusing the two individuals of participating in the APT31 hacking group and the company of being a front for China’s Ministry of State Security, which runs the country’s top spy agencies. Targets of the cyber attacks include legislators, academics, journalists, and defense contractors.

“The United States is focused on both disrupting the dangerous and irresponsible actions of malicious cyber actors, as well as protecting our citizens and our critical infrastructure,” stated Under Secretary Brian Nelson of the Treasury’s Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Treasury Department officials as they impose sanctions upon adversarial international entities and individuals.
  • For Under Secretary Brian Nelson to be led by the Lord as he oversees the Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.
