Tulare woman accused of identity theft

Identity theft can happen to anyone, even the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department.

The sheriff’s department was alerted of a fraudulent check on its inmate checking account that had been cashed at a convenience store in Tulare.

An investigation was initiated and identified as Heidi Phillip, 31 of Tulare, as the suspect. A warrant was issued for her arrest.

She was found and arrested in the 400 block of North K Street. Phillip was booked at the Adult Pre-Trial facility on suspicion of burglary, passing a fraudulent check, possession of a fraudulent check and passing a check.

The case is currently under investigation. Anyone with information about this crime can contact the sheriff’s department at 725-4194.
