HYDERABAD: A click on a link with an offer to monetise Facebook and Instagram accounts cost a TV anchor dear as hackers shut her out and took control. A case has now been registered by cyber crime cops in the city
In her complaint, the TV anchor/actress, Gayathri Bharghavi (43) from Karkhana in Secunderabad, said that she was recently approached by a private company with the offer to insert advertisements on her FB and Instagram accounts. “The company sent me a weblink. When I clicked on it, I lost the admin status for my FB page. Someone else is being shown as the admin now,” Bharghavi alleged.
Bhargavi provided screenshots of her hacked FB account where the new admin is Ashley Bevels from California working for a New York-based media firm . She said that her page has a lot of followers and urged the cops to help her get access to the blocked account.
Cyber crime ACP KVM Prasad said that a case has been registered under section 66-C of the IT Act and they would be writing to FB asking them to provide access to the genuine owner of the account.
