Two Noida men arrested by Hyderabad police for cheating man of Rs 41 lakh over providing dating services | #bumble | #tinder | #pof | #onlinedating | romancescams | #scams

Hyderabad: The cyber cell of Hyderabad police have arrested two men from Noida in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly cheating a Telangana resident of Rs 41.50 lakh in the name of providing dating services. 

The two accused have been identified as Kaushal Chaudhary and Umesh Yadav. Some of their other associates are still absconding. 

“While browsing the internet, the victim, a resident of Secundrabad, came across the contact numbers of the accused. The accused later made the victim deposit Rs 41.50 lakh into their bank accounts on various pretexts such as hotel security deposit, adult toys etc,” the report quoted a police officer as saying.

After the victim deposited the required money, the accused would go unreachable or did not pick up the phone. 

During their probe, the cops found out that the accused were posting online dating services advertisements online. 

Four mobile phones, three sim cards and a debit card have been recovered from the accused. 

However, the police have failed to recover to looted money from the accused as that was already spent. 

In a similar incident reported from Karnataka capital Bengaluru in December 2020, a software engineer was duped of Rs 16 lakh by cyber crooks. The accused allegedly threatened to post a nude video of the man online and managed to extort Rs 16 lakh from him. 

The victim was allegedly duped by a woman he met on an online dating app. The man met a woman who introduced herself as Swetha and asked him to pay Rs 2,000 through a digital wallet. 

The victim then made the payment to the phone number that belonged to Swetha’s friend Nikitha. Nikitha made a video call to the engineer and he saw her posing naked. The call was recorded and the women used the clip to blackmail the techie.
