LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The U.S. Marshals are searching for a child sexual predator who is believed to be in Las Vegas or the Philippines.

Alan Buitre, 61, is wanted for a supervised release violation. He was originally convicted of having child pornography.

Buitre was found with more than 600 images showing child sexual abuse, according to court records. Some of the material was considered to be sadistic or masochistic and included images of a child under the age of 12, records show.

Buitre received a sentence of five years and was placed on lifetime supervision. He admitted to watching adult pornography twice while on probation which is considered a violation.

Buitre stopped communicating with his probation officer in 2018, according to the U.S. Marshals.

Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Ray Venegas is part of a Las Vegas team searching for Buitre.

Buitre is believed to be in Las Vegas or the Philippines, Venegas told the 8 News Now Investigators.

“He knows that we’re looking for him,” Venegas said. “He did abscond, and he knew that he was supposed to register and notify by his probation officer of any changes and he failed to do so.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the U.S. Marshals at (877) 926-8332.
